Life Sciences Analyst Intern

EMV Capital is offering a 3-6 month internship for an analyst with a life sciences background. This is a great entry-level role within a growing VC firm focused on emerging high-growth industries including robotics and artificial intelligence in health-tech and medical device technologies. The internship will provide excellent practical exposure to company evaluation, market research, and deal flow processing for early-stage (late seed through to Series A+) start-ups.

Preferred skills/experience for the role:

A strong (2:1) degree in life sciences and a current student/recent graduate from a Master’s in life sciences or management sciences (e.g. MSc or MPhil from a Business School)
Strong data analysis, quantitative research and/or report writing experience
Intermediate/Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills
Experience of applying scientific knowledge in a business context, such as through work for a University technology transfer office, University entrepreneurship programme, grant writing, business plan competition, incubators or other
Knowledge of/experience with any of our focus technology areas (AI, robotics, biochemistry, IoT or sensor technologies) especially when applied to medical or healthcare systems
Experience with University or other entrepreneurship programme, business plan competitions, incubator/accelerators or investors
Ability to work in a small but diverse team – with a good sense of humour!
You should be a self-starter and be willing to take on a fair amount of responsibility quite quickly
Fluency in English—a second European language is an advantage

The role will include providing support to the executive team in:

Analysis of investment opportunities and business plans
Desk-based market research in emerging life science fields and applications
Portfolio company strategic development
Preparing business plans and investor materials for fundraising opportunities
Sourcing new investment opportunities
Representing EMV Capital at industry events
